Handy is a free, open-source speech-to-text app. Press a keyboard shortcut, speak, and release. Handy pastes what you said into whatever text field you’re using.
Transcription runs on your own computer with your choice of Whisper or Parakeet models, using the GPU when one is available. Your voice never leaves your machine, and there’s no subscription or cloud service involved.
Handy is deliberately small: one tool, one job. It’s built to be forked, so if you want a feature that doesn’t fit the main project, you’re welcome to build it yourself.
