THE TAKE
Comoji is a tiny menu bar app that adds colon emoji shortcuts to the text fields you already use on your Mac. Type :liz, pick 🦎 from a small popover next to your cursor, press Tab and keep typing. It works in Messages, Mail, Notes, Safari, Chrome, Notion and most other apps.
It ships with all 1,870 emoji and the Slack and Discord aliases you already know, ranks your favorites first and remembers your skin tone. Type :: to browse everything, /gif to search GIPHY or /sticker for animated stickers. Choose your own trigger key and turn Comoji off in any app or on any website. Password fields, password managers and terminals are ignored by default.
Everything runs on your Mac: your keystrokes never leave it, and there’s no account and no telemetry. Comoji is free with every feature. Pay $1.99 once to become a Supporter and hide the occasional promotions for Matt’s other apps.
